Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026  ·  NodeSyn is an independent software product

Plain English: NodeSyn is self-hosted software you install on your own server. You own your data. Use it only on systems you own or are authorised to manage. We are an independent software product — an independent software product — and these terms reflect that reality clearly.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using NodeSyn in any way, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, have read and understood these Terms of Service, and agree to be bound by them. If you are using NodeSyn on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, or use NodeSyn.

2. About NodeSyn

NodeSyn is a self-hosted Windows Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) software product ("NodeSyn", "we", "us", "our"). These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and NodeSyn with respect to your use of the software.

NodeSyn installs on a Windows server you own. All monitoring data is stored on your own infrastructure. We do not host, access, or store your monitoring data at any time. We reserve the right to release new versions, modify features, or discontinue older versions. Because NodeSyn is self-hosted, we cannot and do not remotely disable, shut down, or alter your installation.

3. License to Use

NodeSyn operates on a license key system. A free 14-day trial is included with each download — no credit card required. To continue beyond the trial or unlock your full agent limit, purchase a subscription from our website at nodesyn.com, which redirects you to our secure payment provider to complete checkout.

Upon purchase, you receive a license key. You agree to:

  • Keep your license key secure and confidential
  • Use NodeSyn only on systems you own or are expressly authorised to manage
  • Not share, resell, transfer, or sublicense your key without our written permission
  • Not use your license on more nodes than permitted by your tier
  • Be responsible for all activity conducted through your NodeSyn installation

Your NodeSyn dashboard admin account is created locally on your own server — we do not maintain user accounts on our website.

4. Free Trial

All NodeSyn plans include a 14-day free trial period. No credit card is required to start. During the trial you have access to full features within the 1-agent free tier limit. After 14 days, activate a paid license key to unlock your chosen agent tier. You may continue using NodeSyn with 1 agent permanently for free without a paid license.

5. Permitted Use

NodeSyn is intended exclusively for use by authorised IT professionals, system administrators, and managed service providers managing Windows infrastructure they own or are contracted and authorised to manage. By using NodeSyn, you confirm that you have all necessary permissions, consents, and authorisations to monitor and remotely manage every system on which a NodeSyn agent is installed.

6. Prohibited Uses

You must not use NodeSyn to:

  • Monitor any system without the explicit written consent of the system owner
  • Monitor employees or individuals without providing legally required disclosure in your jurisdiction
  • Conduct surveillance, stalking, covert tracking, or unauthorised monitoring of any person
  • Collect, store, or process personal data in violation of applicable data protection or privacy laws
  • Deploy malware, ransomware, spyware, keyloggers, or any malicious code via any NodeSyn feature including scripts, file manager, or software deployment
  • Conduct offensive security operations on any system without explicit written authorisation from the system owner
  • Install agents on systems belonging to third parties without their explicit written consent and knowledge
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of NodeSyn
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercialise NodeSyn without our written permission
  • Attempt to bypass, circumvent, or tamper with the license enforcement system
  • Use NodeSyn in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations in your jurisdiction

Unauthorised computer access and monitoring is a criminal offence in most jurisdictions. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of NodeSyn is lawful. NodeSyn and its developer accept no liability for illegal use of the software.

7. Subscriptions and Billing

  • Subscriptions renew automatically each calendar month
  • All pricing is displayed in USD and is exclusive of applicable local taxes
  • Taxes, where applicable, are calculated and collected by Polar.sh, our payment provider
  • We may update pricing — we will post notice on nodesyn.com at least 30 days before any price change takes effect
  • All subscriptions are billed monthly — no annual contracts are currently offered

See our Refund Policy for full cancellation and refund details.

8. Your Data

You retain complete ownership of all monitoring data generated by your NodeSyn installation. NodeSyn does not have access to, store, or process your monitoring data at any time. All data resides exclusively on your own server infrastructure. We make no claim over your data and will never attempt to access it.

9. Software Updates and Reliability

NodeSyn includes an auto-update system. You control whether updates are applied. We test all releases before publishing. In the event an update causes issues, we will make reasonable efforts to provide a fix promptly.

Because NodeSyn runs on your own infrastructure, your uptime, data integrity, and system performance depend entirely on your own hardware, network, and environment. We are not responsible for:

  • Downtime caused by your own server, network, power supply, or hardware failures
  • Data loss resulting from storage failures, accidental deletion, or misconfiguration on your systems
  • Any disruption caused by your underlying infrastructure
  • Consequences of remote actions you or your team execute through NodeSyn features

We strongly recommend maintaining regular backups of your NodeSyn data directory before applying any update.

10. Intellectual Property

NodeSyn, including all software, source code, trademarks, logos, and documentation, is the intellectual property of the NodeSyn developer. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use NodeSyn as described. No other intellectual property rights are granted or implied.

11. Your Responsibilities and Indemnification

You are solely and entirely responsible for:

  • Obtaining and maintaining written authorisation from owners of all systems where NodeSyn agents are installed
  • Providing any legally required disclosure to employees or individuals whose devices are monitored
  • Complying with all applicable laws including data protection, employment, computer access, and privacy laws in your jurisdiction
  • Maintaining and securing access to your NodeSyn installation, admin credentials, and license key
  • The actions of anyone who accesses your NodeSyn dashboard
  • All consequences arising from remote actions executed through NodeSyn

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless NodeSyn and its developer from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of NodeSyn, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any applicable law, or any harm caused to any third party as a result of your use of NodeSyn.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

NodeSyn is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, error-free performance, or freedom from security vulnerabilities. We do not warrant that automated fix actions will produce intended results. You use NodeSyn entirely at your own risk. Always maintain system backups and exercise caution before executing remote actions on production systems.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, NodeSyn and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of goodwill, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of NodeSyn shall not exceed the total amount you paid to NodeSyn in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the claim giving rise to the liability. NodeSyn is a software tool — we have no control over how you use it, what systems you act upon, or the consequences of actions you take through the platform.

14. Termination

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Polar customer portal or by contacting us. We may deactivate your license key immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in illegal activity through NodeSyn, or fail to pay applicable fees. Upon license deactivation, your NodeSyn installation will cease to function beyond the free tier. Your monitoring data and installation files remain on your own server — NodeSyn cannot and does not delete any data from your infrastructure.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted at nodesyn.com with the revised date shown above. Your continued use of NodeSyn after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We cannot provide individual notice of changes as we do not hold user email addresses unless you are a current paying customer.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable international software licensing principles. In the event of any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of NodeSyn, both parties agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation for a period of 30 days before pursuing any other remedy.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and NodeSyn with respect to the subject matter hereof and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and representations.

19. Security Vulnerability Disclosure

If you discover a security vulnerability in NodeSyn, please report it responsibly to security@nodesyn.com before any public disclosure. Give us at least 30 days to investigate and release a fix. We will acknowledge receipt within 5 business days. Do not exploit or disclose the vulnerability to others during this period.
